1st Phorm : Phormula-1 Protein - Cafe Mocha Review

With the nutrition and supplement industry exploding, let's take a second to cautiously read labels. The quality of your protein powder matters. Many companies will use fillers and unnecessary additives in their formula to extend their products further. While 1st Phorm protein is priced higher than some other brands, there is no competition when it comes to quality. You're getting what you pay for. It only makes sense to invest in what you're putting into your body.

 

Two Types of Protein Powder

I use multiple 1st Phorm products in my daily routine including the protein powders. On their website, you'll find that they sell two main types of protein powders: Level-1 and Phormula-1. Level-1 is a powder that is intended to replace meals or fill in protein gaps throughout the day. Phormula-1 is curated for post workout recovery nutrition. The one I am reviewing in this post is Phormula-1 in the flavor: Cafe Mocha.

Flavor: 

I'm going to cut to the chase and start by saying that this flavor is phenomenal. It has the perfect amount of chocolate and coffee - neither flavor is overpowering. They compliment each other well, as the famous flavor duo does. 

Texture

I really appreciate the texture of this formula. There is no weird grit or lingering coating in the mouth. It is very smooth and easy to dissolve. Simply shake up in a bottle or use a hand held milk frother. I have found that the Phormula-1 protein is thinner than the Level-1 powder.  

Preparation

I often drink this cold out of convenience, but it is delicious hot as well. Right after my workout, I will fill my shaker bottle with about 8-12 oz of ice cold water with 1 scoop of the Phormula-1. This is classic and always tastes great. My favorite hot way to drink this is by making protein hot cocoa.

I'm not going to lie, sometimes the thought of sipping on this protein hot cocoa is what gets me through my workouts. It is winter here in Montana and this recipe has been an absolute daily staple in this household.

8-12 oz Hot Water (or milk to add more substance/richness)
1 scoop Cafe Mocha Phormula-1 Protein Powder
1 tbsp Raw Organic Cacao Powder
